Bogotá is the best cycling city in South America, and it has sprawled around its vibrant and ever-changing downtown. That’s why this 3-and-half-hour bike tour is perfect if you want to see the bigger face of the city.
This is more than a glimpse, is a tour specially made for you to experience Bogotá’s mixtures.
Meeting Point of the Free Bike Tour: Corner Carrera 2 & Calle 12b (Chorro de Quevedo Square).
Starting times: Every day at 10:00am and 2:00pm
Meet our guide holding the company’s yellow umbrella, and the rest of the group at Chorro de Quevedo Square. He and the technical assistant will hand you the bikes with their helmets.
Once everything is set, the adventure will start. The guide will first take you to the three founding plazas in La Candelaria to understand how the city has changed over time. From its indigenous beginnings to Spanish colonialism, independence, and modern times. Then, you will cycle along the seventh avenue, originally a salt road in indigenous times that now gathers Colombians of all walks.
Stop by the National Park, half forest-reservoir, half-cultural hub. A typical weekend gathering spot for Bogotá’s denizens, where we will discuss broader changes in Colombia as a whole.
Afterwards you will take the bike roads to the Parkway Boulevard, part of La Soledad’s neighborhood, a natural path full of trees, before crossing El Dorado Avenue, the road that takes you to the airport.
It's imperative to know how to ride a bike. Please keep in mind this is a tour and not a biking class.
The most advisable thing is that you wear layers of clothing that you can remove as the ridedprogresses. Hoodies, cotton t-shirts, sneakers, sunglasses, and a cap are the most used items of clothing for this activity.
The weather in Bogotá tends to change abruptly during the day, so it's best to be prepared for both rain and sun as the tour operates in all weather conditions. Bring a jacket, comfortable shoes, water and wear sunscreen.
Although you don't have to pay a ticket for this biking tour, leaving a tip is a good sign of appreciation. This tour has a suggestion of USD 10, however it depends on your level of satisfaction.
